“Lucky Lucky”!! Mom was shouting on top of her voice from downstairs. A small lump stirred on the bed upstairs, Lucky.lucky was a 12 year old school boy who despised going to school. Aah!! That dreadful school, he thought. He hated those big boys of his class, had no friends. How could he. When all of his schoolmates were so stupid and silly and thought that he was an arrogant fellow. Well he wasn’t arrogant, but he didn’t like any of them. Always a loner, he looked forward to holidays and time when he’d go home and watch TV. It was not that he didn’t want any friends but he was afraid of them and consequently felt that they were silly and stupid. He liked perfection but no one was perfect to even talk.

So, he hated going to school, hated being alone there. And didn’t want to go particularly today coz he didn’t finish his math assignment. Mr. Raj , his math teacher was very strict and he would definitely give very severe punishment.but, if I stayed home mom will pester me the whole day and its better to go to school, he thought. All along he kept wondering as to what would happen in today’s math class.

After the Morning Prayer session he entered the class. First hour was English. Then were two math hours. Whole heartedly praying that Mr. Raj would suffer from any ailment and would miss school today, he waited with baited breath. After 10 minutes a new person entered the class. She introduced herself as Mrs. Neena their new math teacher.oh my lucky stars!! Lucky’s heart was jumping with joy. It seems that raj sir was transferred to some other school.

Mrs. Neena was a very good teacher. She made mathematics an interesting subject for everyone in the class. Apart from teaching, she would also tell them interesting stories and play games with them.

After a few weeks in the school, one day she called lucky during lunch break” good morning ma’m” lucky was wondering as to what mistake did he commit.” please take your seat lucky. Do you want some chocolate?” “Err. No ma’m thank you”, said luck even though he wanted that chocolate very badly.neeta ma’m continued “I have been observing you since past few weeks. you seem sad and disturbed and talking to nobody. Always u are alone. Is everything all right beta?” “I don’t like my classmates as they are very stupid “he wanted to say but couldn’t. As though reading his mind she continued

“Lucky, nobody in this world is perfect. We all have our share of imperfections. Negative thoughts about people lower your self esteem. We must always face this world fearlessly. Accept people for what they are. If you hate everyone and feel that they are imperfect it leads to unhappiness in your life. As the two sides of a coin, every human being has both good and bad qualities. Learn good things from others and discard the bad. This world will seem to you a better place.”

Lucky kept pondering about that afternoon conversation with Neeta mam.and he realized the truth in her words. Next day mom didn’t have to wake up lucky. He was all geared up to go to school.

It was this realization that we are as happy as we think that changed his attitude towards life :)
