2 All time Fav Books

Books have always been my favorite and the strong reason behind this were some interesting books that I lay my hands early in age. Some of them are my all time favorites and I can still feel the adventure and fun hidden in them. Great books are a lifetime memorabilia. Two books that I am always reminded of are ‘ THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER ‘ and ‘BLACK BEAUTY’. Small chapters from both these books were a part of the Gulmohar’s reader’s book, a book which was a part of English curriculum in the younger standard. These small lessons helped to build interest in reading and writing. I remember reading these two books a number of times until both these books were made into movies.  Kids must read both these books.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain

One of the sweet and adventurous book that I remember from my childhood days was ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’. The book is about A young boy Tom, his childhood innocence and his mischiefs. The book is about his life and how he enjoys playing pranks on his aunt, his half brother and his friends. The book talks about a teenager boy’s everyday life and his naughty acts. How he goes fishing with his friend Huckleberry Finn in the river of Mississipi. His crushes in school and the late night outings with his friends to look for hidden treaaures. Later he finds himself a part of a secret which lead to great treasure.

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

This book, I am always reminded of whenever I come across horses. A horse named Black beauty who is separated from his mother, young and small. The book is about his life as he tells us about what all horses have to go through when they are owneddby Masters living in great mansions. They are equally attached to their Masters and care takers and need regular feeding and look after. He has friends in the shelter. As the horse grows, he understands life and complexities of humans and prefers being an animal. But feels the pain of being unable to express his desires. Sometimes animals have to go through much hated ordeals and I found the book very touching. Its a lovely book, A horse talking about his life, his love for his friends, his master and also how he risks his life for his mistress.

Happy Reading!!!

Chicken Soup for the Soul

I am in love with the book. It’s immensely inspiring. I feel embraced by Love when I read the stories from the book. A collection of 101 stories and each of them has a strong message to convey. ‘Love thy family, Love thy friends, and Love everyone around.’ And above all, express your love for each of them, say it every time you get a chance or maybe once in a day you must tell them. It’s simply magical.

FRIENDS— I THANK YOU ALL ON THIS DAY.

72431499-friendscartoonJust a day for my friends can never suffice but on this day, I am reminded of all the great memories that I have shared with them. Since morning, it has been the day of exchanging messages and talking on phone. Some mails and Ecards have added flavor to this special day. Personally I do not believe in creating a helluva of the day but catching up with friends would have been fun. Things dint fall in place and I had to stay back home but friends will remain friends. Whenever we would meet, it would be our day. Every year 1st Sunday of August is just to salute our friends, more than the special feeling, a chord that connects us and binds us. more…

Confessions of a Listmaniac- Life of Layla the ordinary

Confessions of a Listmaniac by Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan

Well, it was a pleasure to have an autographed copy from the writer, seemed like a freshly baked cake with a cherry on top. The first impression – found the cover design appealing as well as interesting. In a few hours I was already wading in through the life of a 17 year old teenager, Layla. She is like any other girl living in our neighborhood who loves to shop, cribs over, fights with her brother, is curious about late night parties, hangs out with school friends, makes internet friends, can’t live without her best friend and is very confused about having a boyfriend.

BEING ALONE…

fear-of-being-alone-11

Have you watched a movie alone? How about going for shopping alone? Have you tried eating a burger at the Mc-d or dined at a plush restaurant all alone? Well I haven’t tried the first two but eating out alone was also not an easy task. It was difficult to ignore people staring at you who demand explanations for your loneliness.I do not know why people have to make you so conscious. Even if you try not to look their way, they will not forget to drop some comments round your way.

Well these issues are more female centric and have been there for ages. Even if you may be living in the capital city of the country, walking alone or travelling in a bus are still quite an uncomfortable deal for the fairer sex. Some disruptive elements of society will either pass lewd comments or will have a bad eye. I am saddened as well as scared at this situation. Where are we really heading? more…

Back from the Break!!

It’s been a long break I have ever taken from my blogging space. Though I missed it but it was a planned break off from the internet world, no face book updates and put tweeting at bay. I had planned it away from the mundane routine, 8 to 8 life, Monday blues, long traffic anxiety and nearly all day laptop gazing. I was traveling in the hills, an easy and the most preferred way to beat the Delhi summers.

BLOGGING-  My half yearly report.

Over with June, so half of the year is done.Everything has a progress report card, I   thought why not  evaluate my own blog as per my standard. And also its not about competing with anyone as all my life I have been in the race for top ranks, cant take it anymore. Here I am just trying to gauge my progress as a blogger and the response of my readers. The keyword is Progress.

I captured the idea of blogging in the first week of January but came up with the first post on 18th Jan. It was a personal article- Something In a Name! It will always be very special being the very first one. Within an hour, it had my first comment and it gave such immense pleasure when I realized that people were  reading it already. It acted as a great moral booster :) more…

” I Do Not Want What I haven’t Got”

##%&*** I Do Not Want What I haven’t Got ***&%##

Singer Sinead O’ Connor sang the above song in her album. And behind this great thought, there’s a soul that’s not from this world. I say this as its lyrics are complete misfit as far as human nature in today’s world is concerned.  We humans just live and thrive on our wants and likings.

In fact I would say we crave for every other thing which we do not possess and its not only about the materialistic gains. Money can always take care of those. But otherwise also we always want what we do not have. more…
