Poignant (adjective)
Meaning:
1.) Keenly distressing to the feelings.
2.) Affecting or moving the emotions.

Examples:
1.)Old man Adam’s wise words have become very poignant indeed.
2.)Failing the test meant not qualifying for the job, a poignant feeling.
3.)He made a very poignant speech about his deceased sister.

Origin: 1350-1400; Latin pungere which means `to prick, pierce’.

Pungere:

1)Pungent (adjective): If something is pungent then, it has an unpleasant smell or taste.
Example: There are no other side effects apart from a slightly pungent taste.
