if x1,x2,x3 and x4 are the roots of the equation 3x^4+2x^3+7x^2+x+2=0,then find the vaue of (1-x1)(1-x2)(1-x3)(1-x4)

ans.5(pls show detailed sol.

hey rahul
r u sure
the ans is 5????
it shud be 15

as x1 x2 x3 and x4 are root of the equation
so the eqn can be represented as (x-x1).....(x-x4)
so by putting the value of x as 1

the ans comes out to be 15 smile

Hi Spunky,

An equation can be written as (x-x1)(x-x2)....(x-xn) if the coefficient of x^n is 1. but here coeff(x^4) is 3. So we would have to divide the final ans by 3 which would fetch us 5.

Thanks!!
