Can we Post all Query and Doubt for 1000 PS Problems in One Location? It would be Easy to Post and Surf through the content!

Please solve and Explain your Choice:

Section 21: Problem #: 16

Of the science books in a certain supply room, 50 are on botany, 65 are on zoology, 90 are on physics. 50 are on geology, and 110 are on chemistry. If science books are removed randomly from the supply room, how many must be removed to ensure that 80 of the books removed are on the same science?

(A) 81

(B) 159

(C) 166

(D) 285

(E) 324

It will be 50 + 65 + 79 + 50 + 79 + 1 = 324.
Reason is simple that to ensure 80 books on same subject, you need to remove 79 or all (if less than 79) books of a particular subject. And then next book will certainly ensure 80 books of a particular subject.

Let me start from a very basic problem:

How many least number of balls should be removed from a bag containing 10 Red and 10 Blue balls to ensure that at least two balls of same color have been removed?
