AIMA MAT?!
by the underdog - Monday, 30 July 2007, 10:06 PM
I thought CAT was the first in the schedule list of management entrance exams! Was shocked to see something earlier! Is anyone taking this?

MAT is held 4 times a year.  Prepare well for CAT and MAT would be a cakewalk for you smile

Oh good! If it's held four times a year, I'll definitely take it as late as possible smile. Any idea as to around which month would the last one be held (for the year)?

  Hi Underdog,

  • MAT is held 4 times a year i.e. February, May, September and December.
  • The minimum qualification for appearing in MAT is graduation in any discipline from any recognized University or equivalent recognized degree. A final year student in any undergraduate discipline (such as B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc) can also appear provisionally. Usually, there is a minimum percentage requirement in graduation, which is different for different Management Institutes / Universities.
  • The score is valid for one year.
  •  The MAT is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers. It is designed to measure a person’s general aptitudes as the following table indicates:

Section No. Section Total Questions Time Suggested
    (Minutes)
    1. Language Comprehension 40 30
    2. Mathematical Skills 40 40
    3. Data Analysis and Sufficiency 40 35
    4. Intelligence and Critical Reasoning 40 30
    5. Indian and Global Environment 40 15
      Total 200 150

Thanks a lot for this Dagny!! Apologies for not having checked the site myself. smile

A minor clarification - If I want to pursue an MBA for the year 2008 - 2010, would December be my last attempt for the year or could I push it to February?

Hi Bhavani,

In the past, I have never recommended my students to take MAT in their very first attempt; I have always  asked them to retake CAT.  Also , apart from CAT there are many other options that you can look at such as  IIFT, IRMA, MICA, XAT,FMS, ICFAI  (only Hyderabad) etc.
Under MAT you can consider NDIM, Amity, Christ College (Bangalore), BIMTECH etc.
